Nepal bags best int'l stand award at IITM

KATHMANDU, Nov 27, 2013

The Nepali stall at India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Maharashtra bagged the “Best Decorated International Stall” award. The fair took place from November 22 to 24.

According to a press statement issued by NTB, Nepali stall placed at the entrance of the fair highlighted Nepal as an abode of Lord Shiva, a place of Mt Everest and the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Nepal´s stall remained the point of attraction for visitors, trade and media officials and received positive coverage in local media also. At a special ceremony during the fair, Nepal was recognized and awarded the ´Best Decorated International Stall´, said the statement.

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with five travel trade companies from Nepal showcased diverse tourism products, including special packages for Pune residents.
During the exhibition, NTB officials interacted with media, tour operators and visitors and sought their support for coverage in popular Marathi papers like Kesari, Times of India, Pune Section, Prabhat and local television channels. They said Nepal is not just the nearest international destination with value for money but a gateway to various Himalayan treks and also to Mt Kailash in Tibet.

Besides the pilgrimage tours of Pashupatinath and Muktinath, city tours of Kathmandu , Pokhara and Chitwan, Nepal is increasingly becoming the nearest international trekking destination for the Pune youths, college and university students.

A number of queries were received mostly for Pashupatinath and other religious tourism hubs of Nepal like Manakamnana, Muktinath, NTB said in the statement.
