KATHMANDU, Feb 4:
Nepal Telecom (NT) is providing 50 percent discount on GSM and CDMA tariff rates on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
Rajesh Joshi, joint spokesperson of NT, said the discount on tariff rates will be valid from February 4 to 6. “The offer will be applicable for both postpaid and pre-paid services,” said Joshi.
NT is also launching Internet products and demonstrating new services as well. The state-owned telco is also demonstrating its new project Fiber to the Home (FTTH) during the anniversary celebration. Once the service is introduced, NT´s customers can enjoy high-speed Internet as well as other value added services from their PSTN lines.
“We will be demonstrating the service on Wednesday evening amid a group of invitees. The service will be launched soon,” Guna Keshari Pradhan, spokesperson of NT, said.
NT is installing equipment in 10 different places across the country and plans to launch the service by mid-April.
“We are planning to launch the fiber cable service in the areas under Sundhara, Chhauni, Naxal, Patan and Chabahil exchanges inside the Valley and areas under Biratnagar, Birgunj, Bharatpur, Butwal and Pokhara exchange outside the valley in the first phase,” said Shyam Sundar Yadav, director of NT´s PSTN Directorate, said.
NT is also planning to introduce tariff based Wi-Fi Internet service based on WiMAX technology. The state-owned telecom operator will charge Rs 10 per hour for the service. It has been providing Wi-Fi service free of cost at six public places since September.
