NEPSE classifies A class companies

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday added 22 companies to the list of A class companies bringing the total to 95.
Three companies were de-listed from the A category while two merged to upgrade themselves to A class, said NEPSE.
NEPSE had begun categorising the companies since the fiscal year 1996/97 when seven companies were inducted into the A category.
Companies having a paid-up capital of at least Rs. 20 million, no less than 1,000 ordinary shareholders and earning a profit for three years continuously are categorised under the A class.
Other requirements are that the company's book value should not be less than the paid-up value and the company should have submitted the financial status to NEPSE within six months of the end of the fiscal year.
Among the companies enlisted in the A category, five are from the development bank group, two insurance companies, 11 finance companies, two hotels, one hydropower and one from the "others" group.
United Insurance, Bhajuratna Finance and Everest Finance have been removed from the A category as they failed to fulfil the requirements. NEPSE revises and classifies the companies every year.
