The poor relation between the management and workers has hit the industrial environment, according to experts.
Due to the prolonged political transition, the country is witnessing a poor industrial environment, said Nepali Congress leader and former minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, addressing an interaction here today. The public sector has to be responsible, he said, adding it has to be sensitive on service delivery. "The management also has to be serious about the problems of labourers."
Political transition has discouraged investors as they are seeking investment alternatives. "Without investment there will be no employment generation," experts said, adding essential service providers like hospitals, telecoms, customs and hotels have to be serious on service delivery.
Increasing trade union militancy has forced some of the industries to pull down their shutters, which has increased unemployment. "The politically-backed trade unions have misinterpreted the philosophy of unions and united bargaining for the larger good of all, and have become a tool to fulfill political agendas," they blamed.
Trade union representatives promised to create an investment-friendly environment and improve labour-management relations.
