KATHMANDU, NOV 30 -
The Company Register Office (CRO) has decided to make online all the processes related to company registration.
The CRO has enforced a mandatory online registration process since mid-October, but it had been carrying out other administrative activities through manual process.
CRO Registrar Shankar Acharya said an overwhelming response for online processing has prompted them to eliminate all manual administrative work.
“From now onwards, we will not entertain people with manual worksheets,” said Acharya. “All companies will have to follow our new guidelines and processes accordingly.”
However, in the initial phase, the CRO has arranged some staffers to guide service seekers on the online registration system. “It’s a temporary facility aimed at educating people about the process,” he said.
A special website has been created, where people can access necessary information. After the registration, the office will notify the clients online whether their company has been registered. The registered companies will be able to see their registration documents online .
Under the Company Act, the CRO has formulated a guideline to implement the programme. As per the guideline, to get the online service, a company needs to be registered, should have internet access, including password and a registered email address and should also obtain a license to use electronic service from the CRO.
“With the elimination of all the hassles, potential clients will have to come to the office only to pay the registration charge and receiving the online certificate,” said Aryal. “We are planning to start this service in districts in association with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN).”
The CRO has already signed an agreement with the FNCCI and CAN in this regard. Aryal said information offices will be set up in six districts under the FNCCI and three districts under the CAN in the near future.
The offices will later be expanded to other districts. The centres will benefit people from districts, who are forced to come to Kathmandu to register their companies, he said.
As there is a single office in Kathmandu for online registration, it has caused inconvenience to many business houses outside Kathmandu, particularly in remote areas. The information centres in districts is expected to address problems related to registration and other updates.
According to Aryal, the CRO is currently working on providing training to officials to be deployed at such centres.
Hemanta Dawadi, director general of FNCCI, said the federation has reached an agreement the CRO for opening information service centres in Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Narayangadh, Birgunj, Biratnagar and Nepaljung. “A draft has been finalised for an agreement with District Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the CRO office in those districts,” said Dawadi.
