Nepal International Trade Fair from March 6

KATHMANDU , DEC 12 - 2013

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry ( FNCCI ) is organising the 3rd edition of Nepal International Trade Fair in Bhrikutimandap, Kat-hmandu, from March 6, 2014.

The five-day event will have around 400 stalls representing national and international traders. The fair will have a national pavilion showcasing handicraft products, agro products, education and information technology and small hydro projects, among others.

Kalyan Krishna Tamrakar, branding committee chairman of the fair, said there would be international pavilions showcasing products from the USA, the UK, India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Iran, among other gulf countries. The international participants would put on display items including garment, leather products, food items, automobiles, cosmetics and decorative items.



The organisers have expected 250,000 national and 2,500 international visitors and Rs 150 million transactions.

Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, senior vice president of the FNCCI , said the fair aims at promoting Nepal’s international trade and enhancing exports. “The fair will help promote Nepali products in the international market which will ultimately help increase boost exports.”

Meanwhile, regional trade fairs are also being held in four regions across the country with an aim of exploring potential of local products and services. According to the FNCCI , the mid-western region trade fair will start from December 13 in Birendranagar, Surkhet; western region fair will start from December 24 in Butwal; the eastern region will host the fair from Feb 7 in Dhulabari, while the mid-western fair will be organised from February 14.
